I was Bn Ord Cpl in the JLB guard room , Monty Wood - the RSM - aked me to go with Maj Muson ATO and help recover the remains of David ... At the site of the incedent Major Mason had to clear a number of mortar rounds and energa blinds from the site before we could start .... On this day David was with his mate J/Cpl Peter Cox who was also badly injured. It was a sports day. I was 21, not much older than both of these kids.
