This was the first we heard about a tumour and subsequently my father died a week later on the 23/05/2010 at Kings Hospital, London. From Vic Kerry (Hill 1959/60): I knew Bob fairly well. In the Boxing ring in his day he used to fight like a lunatic, knocking down most of his opponents to say the least.Yet outside the ring he was soft as anything. I remember him laying on his bunk at Fort Tregantal virtually crying his eyes out, because somebody had stolen a Birthday Cake he was supposed to have received from his family (funny how these things stick in your Memories.) Further to this; when I was working for Group 4 Security as a Security Supervisor at the Shakespear Channel Tunnel site (1992/93) Bob turned up and worked along side me for a while as a Security Guard. After all those years ago back in 1960 then to meet somebody out of the blue like this was totally amazing as we swung the Lamp a bit about old times as the saying goes. I never ever saw the going again after this and never will, unfotunately. All I knew afterwards was that he supposedly ended up Taxi Driving in Deal Kent.
