With his father having previously served in RASC, his brother currently serving in the RAE and his sister with the Corps at Kineton it can be seen he intended to make the service his career. After completion of training, he was posted to the then I (BR) Corps Combat Supplies Battalion in January 1981. In his short time with the Corps he impressed all with whom he came in contact, with his up to date knowledge of weaponry and tactics and his general military ability. His competence as a tradesman was demonstrated by him passing the Supply Specialist (ammunition duties course as top student. At all times his smart appearance, ability at work, fitness and the example he set to his contemporaries bode well for the future. His tragic and untimely death as the result of an MHE accident on 31st March 1983 came as a shock to all, ending a very promising career so abruptly. On behalf of his many friends, sincere condolences are extended to his parents, brothers and sister on their sad loss.
