REME.jpg - Graham Whittall * 17.06.1959 - †19.05.2003 REME Apprentice 1976 - ? Roy James Whittal, 15th. April 2008 (Graham's brother) writes: Graham enlisted into the RAOC Apprentice College as an Apprentice Craftsman in 1976 and served for a further 12 years. He is sadly missed by all who knew him. Graham was born in BMH Iserlohn on 17 June 1959, where our father was serving in the REME at the time. We both grew up with that tag "Army Brat", but we came out of it and joined up. Graham at the Junior Leaders Regiment RAOC Deepcut in 1976 and me at Blackdown Barracks in 1973. I recall going to his Passing Out Parade with my Dad. I was on block leave at the time and RSM there was RSM Miller. Graham had plans of being a helicopter Pilot, but as that never materialised, he went to Hereford for 3 years as a Sgt. Graham married Nicola in 1983 and had three children, Andrew Victoria and George - who was only three when he sadly died. Graham moved to Bulwell Nottingham when he retired and worked as a vehicle mechanic for LandRover, working himself up to a managerial position. I received a phone call from my dad in 2002 saying Graham had a stroke. One of his colleges actually realised it was in fact a brain tumour. Graham had 2 operations, the second was in April of that year. He developed breathing difficulties on the 4th of May 2003 and was taken to the hospital by his wife Nicola. He died later that day aged 43. His funeral was held in Kimberly and he was cremated on 19th May 2003. Any details, memories or photographs that you may have would be most welcome.
