Obituary for HANCOCK, David W.

HANCOCK *??  - †12 September 2013 OC HQ Coy, RAOC Apprentices College 1973-75   Passed away at his home in Pontyclun, Mid Glamorgan    The photo (sent in by Bob Prior-Sanderson) was taken in Singapore in the late 60s.     I first played rugby with David in Singapore in the early 60s. He was at 221 BVD in Johor Bahru in Malaya.  I then met him again in the late 60s when he was OIC Local Procurement in 3 BOD where we played rugby for the unit, Corps, Army and CS.  Other legends where there at the same time, Norman Bruce, Ron Johnson, John Hancock (his brother, Royal Sigs) Taff Edwards, Tug Wilson and Jock Willy.  A dedicated rugby player, coach and administrator.   Such a sad loss, we shared the same table at the RAOC Officer’s Club dinner on numerous occasions over the last twenty years, and had some fantastic sessions swinging the lamp.  I will miss him as will many others, a super person.    RIP David my condolences to his family.
