RAOC.gif - George Bryan Hopkinson (GBH) * 18 April 1933 - † 5th.February 1988 OC of Steevens Platoon ca.1960 Left the Army 1986 as Brigadier and died of a heart-attack I served with "Hoppy"in 16 Para Wksps s/section, 1957-60 he was our O.C. He was the nicest man I ever met in the Army. I was devistated to hear that he had passed away. He transfered to JLB with me. I have been to his place of rest, in Peak District national park and tended his grave and placed flowers on it. When he was at JLB he was OC of Steevens House (I think). My wife and I used to baby sit his daughter when she was first borne. Now she has a her own family (how time flies) I am 70 now and live in good old Aldershot.Regards Cpl. Bernie Tharme(Punchy) 1st.
