'Gibbo' was the first Boy Soldier I met after arriving at North Frith Barracks in August 1954. Known to most ex Boys as 'Gibbo' he was a good Boy NCO and very popular. “Gibbo” took me for my first short back and sides on Baggy Hall's orders. RIP 'Gibbo' Sincere condolences to his Family

I was saddened to learn that 'Chuck' Gibbons has left us. What a smashing caring man he was. I first met him at Stores Section 36 Hvy AD Regt, Shoeburyness when he was a SSgt (SNCOIC Stores) and I was the Tech Sgt (PC&A). He ran a tight ship and we got on really well together. He was a great ally It was Chuck that looked after me when I was very ill on a couple of long BAOR Exercises. I suffered from (later discovered and operated upon 3 x times) duodenal ulcers and all that that entailed, and at times I was unable to drive my vehicle, let alone eat. Chuck would find another driver from somewhere and before setting off to a new location (always at night) he would secure me to a camp bed in the back of my vehicle and, when he could, bring me mugs of warm milk with honey. Chuck got me through some pretty rotten times. After leaving the Stores Section in December 1970, I did not meet up with him again until 1979/80, at COD Donnington. I visited him and Ann(e) at their lovely home on a couple of occasions. I found Chuck to be an altruistic, helpful and kind person. He had good humour, and an obvious interest in the wellbeing of others which endeared him to many. Such a sad and untimely loss. Rest in Peace my friend. My sincere condolences to his family.
