Appt Boy/LCpl 26/4/50. B/Cpl 10/12/50. B/Sgt 8/2/51. Took part in the Toy Soldiers Display at the first tattoos held in Portsmouth. As arranged by Maj Wiggens at that time. Posted to the ranks at seventeen years and six months. 2 Training Bn R.A.O.C. Served in: Gibraltar, Korea, Hong Kong, Liverpool, Chilwell, Cyprus, Germany, Singapore, London District, B.O.W.O.W. Guildford. Left the army in Nov 1973 as Conductor R.A.O.C. Died 11/7/88 in Bramley, Hampshire. Moderators note: It is not quite clear when Rex left the Army. His wife wrote 1953, but that cannot be correct, so we have entered 1973. Some more details of his Service, as passed on to us by Bob Glover: Rex went to Gibraltar shortly after joining "man service" and then we met up in Forward Ordnance Maintenance Company in Korea in 1954. I last saw Rex, when he was a WO1 at 154 Forward Ammunition Depot in Wulfen, in 1967/68 Some more details of his Service, as passed on to us by Roy Jacklin: I remember Rex from Haslar. We left for man service late 1951. We served together at Chilwell 52/53 and sailed for Korea on the Lancashire 53/54. Rex was a S/Sgt chief clerk at FOMC Seoul. I was at Inchon veh Park. I never saw Rex again.  Any details, memories or photographs that you may have would be most welcome.
