I first met Bryan in 1966 at CVD Marchington Staffs. He was just back from Aden. I liked Bryan from day one and we hit it off as mates from there .He was an ex boy and had that confidence that ex boys have . We worked together on B Depot and he was great to work with, he had a ready wit and enjoyed army life with a relish. We had regular excursions to the local town, Uttoxeter. It was whilst on such a visit that he met Jean. He was a different guy after that. He was so happy and his world was perfect. They were inseperable and complimented each other as a pair. When it came to the inevitable wedding I had the honour of being his best man and they were destined for a great life together. When we parted company ,due to different postings , we promised to keep in touch. We never served together again. After leaving the Army Bryan went on to start a very successful business and earned the respect of all that he came into contact with.I made a point of catching up with Bryan when in his neck of the woods and it was always a pleasure. To see him again was as if we hadn't been apart, just picked up where we left off.I was deeply shocked and saddened when he passed away. His funeral at Uttoxeter was one of the most attended services that the town had seen. A true testament to the love, affection and esteem with which he was held.Bryan was one of life's gentlemen, a truly lovely man and I am honoured to have been one of his many friends.Rest in peace mate.Patrick Luck (Lucky)
