August 1979 Ex RAOC Junior Leader 1972- August 1974 Died on 11 August 1979 as a result of an RTA whilst based at COD Chilwell (Gazette Entry 197910-140 - below) Extract from the Corps Gazette October 1979 PRIVATE DAVID LADLEY MAJOR D.M.BRAITHWAITE RAOC writes: The news of Private David Ladley's death as a result of a car accident came a s a great shock to everybody who knew and worked with him. An Ex-Junior Entrant young Ladley joined Regimental Wing COD Chilwell in May this year on posting from Training Battalion and Depot. He was a quiet young man who settled down quickly and soon became a useful member of the 'Orderly Room Team'. An athlete of some potential at middle and long distance he, although only with us for a short time, represented the Unit at the Traverse Clarke Competition. For his wife and young son there can be no recompense but some consolation in the high regard in which he was held by his colleagues. To them we offer our deepest sympathy. David can be seen on photo 73750049 (members only). The quality is however, too poor to reproduce here. Any details, memories or photographs that you may have would be most welcome.
