It is with the deepest regret that we have been informed that Tony Raffan passed away, following a short illness, on 25 August 2008. He had reserved his place at the recent Reunion Dinner and even though he had been admitted to hospital for a "minor" operation two weeks prior to the event, he still indicated his intention to attend. Bill Chamberlain, Association Team

I am not very good at this sort of thing, but I would like the world to know that Tony was a very kind man.
I first met Tony in 97 OMP, when he left Labuan, the last thing he said was, "come and see me in S'pore", true to his word he and Pat put me up in Air Field Towers, Qtrs, when I was on RR. When I was married, I came across Tony again when he was at 23 Base. He would drive to Dortmund from Wetter (23 Base) pick up my wife, our two kids, and myself and put us up. Again, when in 3ADOC, my wife thought the world of Pat.

Some people in this world leave their imprint and Tony was such a person. I am not sure how this RAOC forum works, but if there is a way of putting my thoughts on paper, then this is it.

Tony, from one sports man to another,
Play, Play up, and play the Game
You did

Yours,

William Terence "Slim" Jones (Corps Rugby 1965-1974)
